Immunohistochemical expression of TGFβ, E-cadherin and vimentin in benign and malignant neoplasias of canine mammary gland

چکیده
Background Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a fundamental biologic process whereby epithelial cells detach from the surrounding tissue and acquire characteristics of mesenchymal cells, a unique motile, spindle-shaped cell with endto-end polarity. EMT can be induced or regulated by various growth and differentiation factors; among these, TGFb has received much attention as a major inducer of EMT during embryogenesis, cancer progression and fibrosis. Our aim was to correlate the immunohistochemical expression of TGFb, e-cadherin and vimentin in canine mammary tumors.

The Relationship between Clinicopathological Features and Expression of Epithelial and Mesenchymal Markers in Spontaneous Canine Mammary Gland Tumors
It is known that epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) contributes to the acquisition of malignant property in human cancers. However, the role of EMT in canine tumors remains to be elucidated. To evaluate the correlation between expression levels of protein markers involved in EMT and clinicopathological characteristics in canine mammary gland tumors, immunohistochemistry using antibodies ag...
متن کاملCanine Mammary Gland Cancer Stem Cell and its Potential Role in Malignant Biologic Behavior
BACKGROUND:Canine mammary gland cancers are the most prevalent malignancies in dogs. There are different challenges regarding management of these cancers in dogs and human, one hypothesis is related to small cellular subset of tumor mass called cancer stem cell. These cells are therapy resistant and cause metastasis and relapse even after primary successful treatment. The well-identified phenot...

Background: Ovarian cancer is a leading metastatic disease. The epithelial ovarian cancer is one of the most common malignant cancers that usually remains asymptomatic up to metastasis stages, and most patient when diagnosed are in the advanced stage of the disease. Studies have shown that in the majority of epithelial cancers mesenchymal factor expression such as Vimentin increases, and the ep...
متن کاملClassification and grading of canine malignant mammary tumors
Histological grading is a good parameter to stratify tumors according to their biological aggressiveness. The Elston and Ellis grading method in humans, invasive ductal breast carcinomas and other invasive tumors are routinely used. The aims of this study were classification of mammary gland tumors and also application of a human grading method in canine mammary carcinoma. The samples included ...
متن کاملImmunohistochemical Comparison of E-cadherin Expression in Oral Lichen Planus with and without Dysplasia
Objectives: E-cadherin is a transmembrane glycoprotein, which is responsible for cell adhesion and its expression decreases in dysplastic lesions. This study aimed to assess the expression of this marker in oral lichen planus (OLP) with and without dysplasia to assess its potential for use as a predictor of malignant transformation. Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study w...
